PENRITH GOES ORANGE ‘A-PEEL’
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ‘The World’s Original Marmalade Awards’ at Dalemain and also to support Hospice at Home, Penrith is Going Orange from Wed 25th Feb to Wed 4th March 2015.
Over 50 Penrith businesses are putting orange themed displays in their windows and many will have ‘Orange Offers’ for shoppers and a collection box to ‘A-Peel’ for money for Hospice at Home.
There will also be an ‘Orange Trail’ throughout the town for people to follow to find the businesses taking part and each will have a poster in the window to indicate that they are Orange.
Paddington Bear will be in town on Wednesday to choose the best two orange themed businesses.
The winners will be visited by the Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom who will present winners certificates on Saturday 28th February in Penrith after 4:30 pm.
Complimentary buses are also being provided to & from Penrith Bus Station and Dalemain approximately every ½ hour on Saturday & Sunday from 9:30 to 4:30 to raise funds for Hospice at Home, funded by Penrith BID, to encourage visitors to the festival to come into Penrith and provide an easy way for locals to visit this unique local international event.
People are invited to take a photograph of their favourite Orange window and enter a free competition by posting it on the Discover Penrith website (http://www.discoverpenrith.co.uk/townfestivals)
Totally Locally Penrith and Penrith Chamber of Trade have collaborated in putting the event on following an invitation from Jane Hasell-McCosh for greater involvement by local businesses with the Dalemain Marmalade Festival. Funding has been granted by Penrith BID (Business Improvement District)
It is hoped that these activities will bring some colour and enjoyment to the town and become an established event in the local calendar.
