This course covers the 2 basic chainsaw units required by those working in Forestry, Tree Surgery or Arboriculture

Course Description

This course is designed for experienced chainsaw operators who intend to use the chainsaw for business, domestic or leisure activities. It is suitable for those seeking contractual work in professional forestry, amenity or arboricultural activities which is likely, immediately or at some future date, to involve felling trees over 200 mm (15”) in diameter and aerial tree work.

Course Content

Maintenance of the chainsaw

Carry out operational chainsaw checks

Know relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice

Cross-cut timber using a chainsaw

Fell and process trees up to 380mm

Know relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice

Remove branches from felled trees using a chainsaw
