Better Hearing Clinic
Better Hearing Limited was founded in 2016 and officially started trading on October 1st, 2016. The original idea was to assist those who could not access clinics, with Bernard beginning the journey to help others.
Initially, finding customers in the guarded care sector was challenging. However, Michael Greenberg at The Village Optician offered Bernard a room and a steady flow of customers. Bernard then found a room at Bromley Cross Opticians, where he thrived despite cramped conditions. The practice in Cockermouth was established after a trial at St Helens Dental Practice, and Bernard moved into his first high street premises in mid-2019.
The COVID-19 pandemic had a devastating impact, but moving operations to standalone premises helped the business stay open. Bernard's work ethic and high standards are rooted in his early retail career, including a stint on cruise ships with Princess Cruises, which brought him to Bolton, England.
Bernard qualified as a Hearing Aid Audiologist in 2007, thanks to the team at Scrivens Hearing. After moving to Boots, he supported and mentored students from the University of Manchester and Birmingham Aston University.
