The Lighthouse

Sanctuary and support in times of crisis.

The Lighthouse is a calm, safe and comfortable place for people from Carlisle or Eden District to visit when they are experiencing crisis, feeling unsafe or finding it hard to cope.

We are open 6pm to 11pm, every night of the year.

At The Lighthouse you can talk to one of our crisis support workers, exploring together ways to feel safe and strategies to help you cope with your crisis. Some people simply use The Lighthouse as a calm and safe place to have some time out. Others find support through talking to people in a similar situation as them.

The service is confidential. We won’t tell anyone about your visit, unless you ask us to - except in exceptional circumstances.

How to visit us

Visits to The Lighthouse are by appointment only.

Call us on: 0300 561 0000 and together we will talk through your situation and decide if a visit to The Lighthouse is suitable for you.

If you’ve visited The Lighthouse before, please call us first to request a further visit.

You can also be accompanied by a friend or relative on your visit.

Help Through Hardship Crisis

Connect is a partnership project between Carlisle Eden Mind, Citizens Advice Carlisle and Eden and Cumbria Law Centre.

The Connect team work with anyone who is suffering crisis, poverty or hardship and is worried about their mental health and wellbeing.

A hardship or poverty crisis can include immediate problems such as issues with money, food, gas/electric, clothes, furniture etc. It can also include wider needs such as housing, welfare, benefits and debt.

We help to provide a holistic service to people to help meet their needs and develop a support plan alongside these other agencies if necessary.
