Arragons Cycles
Arragon's Cycle Centre is an established business, having traded for almost 50 years, with Sarah & Phil in charge since 2003. We acquired a neighbouring property shortly after taking over and so doubled the size of the store, introducing dedicated showrooms for each cycling genre. In 2012 we remodelled the shop to allow a range of bikes to be showcased downstairs, and moved the Service Centre upstairs.
We believe our team is eqiupped with the skill & experience to assist with all things bikes in the most professional mannor. We have available an unrivalled range of cycles and accessories for every need. From our wide range of bikes, we can equip you with a cycle that will compete with any manufacturer in the World.
Between us, we ride and own tandems, single speed fixed wheels, folding bikes, mountain bikes, racers, touring bikes, time trial bikes… what we don’t know about cycling… isn’t worth knowing!
2014 is going to be a challenging year for Phil and myself as we prepare to take on Ironman Frankfurt. We, along with 8 friends from the shop, will embark the 30 week training plan for the event in July. Keep looking on here for updates on the trials and tribulations of training - who can get the most secret training in, the best rest, most nutritious food... And the fastest time!
Our state of the art workshop facility is open to view - we enjoy being visible and many of our customers take advantage of a bit of advice from the boys in the workshop! The rest of the room is home to mechanical accessories and practical bits.
The second of our showrooms displays clothing and accessories and our two cycle showrooms offer a full range of industry leading cross country and road bikes, family cycles, leisure, fitness and touring bikes.
Phil, Sarah, Rich, and Lucy endeavor to offer the best advice and knowledge to our customers. We have a wide range of cycles, spares and accessories spread across our four showrooms - and most of the products have been tried and tested by at least one of us!
If you are cycling one of the many routes that pass by our shop call in for spares, a speedy 'pitstop' service or a chat and you will be made very welcome. If you want to pre book a service then call the shop on 01768 890 344. We look forward to meeting you soon.

LOWTHER ESTATE TRAILS
The trails that run through the Lowther Estate embrace all that is beautiful in the lovely Lowther valley. Cycle-paths snake through the ancient woodland and pastures of Lowther Park, following the stunning contours of the landscape. All trails within the Lowther Estate have been created for full family enjoyment and are graded in accordance with national cycling standards. There are signposts at every junction, with destinations and length in miles clearly shown. In addition to this, there are some signposted circular routes that go beyond the estate boundaries. Hirers can also create their own rides beyond Lowther and into the Eden Valley or Lake District.

LOWTHER CASTLE
Of the many treasures waiting to be discovered in the English Lake District, Lowther Castle is a gem. Built at the turn of the 19th century, on the site of two previous houses, the castle was a grand affair boasting a room for every day of the year. Its gardens were the envy of the north. But in 1957 the castle was demolished. Just the façade and outer walls remained standing and for over half a century, the place was empty – home only to chickens, pigs and the odd bat. The gardens were lost to wilderness.
Seventy years on from its demolition, Lowther Castle is now one of the most intriguing visitor attractions in the country. Dramatic ruins, gardens within gardens, an adventure playground to rival the best in the land. For visitors young and old (and four-legged), Lowther Castle offers plenty to enjoy. And when all of you are ready for a rest, you can retreat to the café and have some delicious food, before taking to the gift shop and indulging in one last treat.
Lowther Castle & Gardens are open every day from 10am to 4pm in winter and 10am to 5pm in summer. For castle and garden entry fees, click here. Last entry to the gardens 1 hour before closing. Shop, café, courtyard and parking are free to use.
